H.O.P.E. COLLECTIVE, INC. IS A TAX-EXEMPT 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION
In 2004, approximately 34% of all eighteen to twenty-four year olds were enrolled in colleges or universities. The college enrollment rate in rural areas (27%) was substantially lower than the enrollment rates in cities (37%) and suburban areas (37%).
For the 60 million people living in rural areas (about 19% of the U.S. population), the odds of dying prematurely from chronic illness are significantly higher than those faced by their urban counterparts. Primary chronic disease killers include: heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes, and stroke which are significantly higher rates in communities of color.
The shortfalls for rural entrepreneurs include the lack of access to capital/lender relationships, startup loans, and mentorships. This gap is even wider if you are in groups that have been historically underserved. Business equity in the United States represents just 4.8% for African American families and 7.0% for Hispanic families.
Because of our shared goals, the partnership between H.O.P.E. Collective and Junior Achievement allowed our common mission to empower and support young entrepreneurs in rural South Carolina to be realized. We look forward to expanding our impact throughout the region.
H.O.P.E. Collective believes in the work that we are doing with our students in our high school and is always a willing partner in our initiatives.
There are limited resources in our rural school district to help our students with additional academic support. H.O.P.E. Collective is an organization that is there to help us fill in the gaps when it comes to resources.

H.O.P.E. is an acronym for "Helping Others through Partnerships and Exchanges". Our
current initiatives focus on youth and entrepreneurship. We are collaborating with educators who have an opportunity to expose their students to additional resources that will engage and encourage them to reach higher heights. Our programming includes an age-based curriculum with lessons demonstrating the basics of entrepreneurship and activities to engage the students with real-world business issues to solve.
